So you found us!!
If you’re looking for a highly sophisticated guide to the latest cutting edge technology and guidance for cycle touring, this probably isn’t the place for you. However, if you want to discover some practical advice and basic guidance on riding bikes over long distances, from the perspective of a family who love to cycle together, including some of the thrills and spills of managing a multi-day, unsupported, family ride, then there’s definitely something here for you.
Let me explain… After years of considering it, at the beginning of 2019 we, as a family, decided to go on our first family cycling tour down the west coast of France. This is our resulting blog. A chance to share our journey into cycle touring. And it’s not just about that first tour but also the planning and preparing for many exciting trips moving forward.
When we started this blog we had never done more than a day of cycling before as a family, however Jon is a keen cyclist who has done many different challenges so he had a good idea what he was doing.
So who are we?
I’m Lara – (48) I like cycling, I used to do a short commute on my bike but changed jobs in 2017 and hardly cycled at all until our first family adventure in 2019 Jon – (46) is a very experienced cyclist, having completed many cycling tours/adventures and can easily cycle a lot of miles in a day. He also cycles a lot in our kitchen using a turbo trainer or rollers and Zwift (more on this in a future post)! I doubt he will struggle with our ride at all.
Zak (19) and Maisey (17) have joined us on various family cycle rides and have both ridden up to 100km (61 miles) in a day, but like me had had certainly not cycled that many miles over a number of consecutive days before our first family tour.
So this is our journey, our story. Thanks for being part of it.
Keep checking this site to keep up with our family bike tour adventures.
