Day 3: La Tremblade to Royan (28.4 miles, 522 ft)

We made it to Royan! After a later start than usual, and dad having to pay loads of tax for last night’s campsite that he wasn’t expecting, we set off.
The weather was good today. We followed a costal path (even though for most of it you couldn’t see the sea). We also stopped and had ice- cream, which was very tasty. We are now at our accommodation and it is nice. Everything went well and it was the first sunny day of riding. It is weird to think that at the end of tomorrow’s ride we will be over half way, as it feels like we’ve only just started. Lunch was probably the second best we’ve had so far (after the burger on Friday) as we had lots of cured meats for our baguettes.

I almost fell off today as I didn’t see a bit of sand, my bike fell over and somehow I managed to walk off, not falling over or getting hurt?!? The cycle paths were nice and flat, except for one part where it was quite bumpy. Me and Zak had a race and I won (he says I cheated but no one said you had to say when to go)

After dinner (which was pasta with tomato sauce) we walked to the beach. We drew some things in the sand and also put our toes in the sea, it was quite warm. Now we are going to continue our ongoing game of Phase 10 (dad’s new game of the holiday) then go to bed ready for tomorrow because it is the hardest day out of the whole week (yaaaay)

35 miles and 1,500 feet tomorrow. I’m not sure that will be as much fun.
